Our Trauma-informed developmental care program (TIDCP) is a comprehensive bundle of bilingual (English & French) online training modules are designed to equip healthcare professionals with essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills in trauma-informed developmental neonatal care.

Explore the principles of family-centered care in the NICU, including strategies to support families’ emotional well-being, promote communication, collaboration and partnership with families as well as integrate family involvement in the care of premature infants by developing their sense of competency and self-efficacy.

Learning objectives

  1. Understand why families are at higher risk of mental health issues during NICU hospitalization
  2. List resources to put in place to help them
  3. Understand how to involve parents in care by teaching them cues and coaching them at the bedside
  4. Describe 3 strategies to improve their presence at the bedside and collaboration in care.
